This project focused on the creation of realistic American Sign Language (ASL) animations using MetaHuman characters and Unreal Engine. By combining real-time motion capture with high-fidelity digital humans, the goal was to produce accurate, expressive, and accessible sign language animations suitable for interactive, educational, and real-time applications.

Developed and directed by Ali Yıldırım, the project explores how motion capture technology and real-time engines can be used to support accessibility-focused content while maintaining a high level of visual realism and performance efficiency.

The ASL animations were created by capturing real human motion and translating it directly onto MetaHuman characters inside Unreal Engine. Special attention was given to hand articulation, finger positioning, timing, and body language, ensuring that the animations accurately reflect the nuances of American Sign Language rather than generic gestures.

The real-time workflow allowed for rapid iteration, precise control, and immediate visual feedback, making it possible to refine both technical accuracy and visual quality throughout the process.
